5/31 Construction Kickoff Ceremony Signals Library Renovation
Who: Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Director Herb Elish and invited guests including Brookline community residents, State Representative Michael Diven, Pittsburgh City Councilmen Jim Motznick and Sala Udin, Brookline Area Community Council members, South Pittsburgh Development Corporation, and members of the Brookline Chamber of Commerce.
What: Library officials and guests will mark the official start for the $2.2 million Brookline Library renovation. During the Construction Kickoff ceremony, VIPs will drop their 'bestsellers' and instead use hard hats, safety goggles and sledgehammers to remove an interior wall making way for the extensive renovations. Funding for the project comes from the proceeds of a bond issue backed by the Allegheny Regional Asset District.
