  Each month this group discusses three poems by a selected poet or about a selected topic.
• Black Holes, Beakers, and Books: A Popular Science Book Club
  Beginning in November 2011, our theme will be Physics: Past, Present & Future.
• Books in the Afternoon
  This Main Library book group focuses primarily on fiction and has been going strong for many years.
• Bound Together Book Club
  In this collaboration between the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, take a fresh look at art through the lens of literature!
• LitAnalysis: Reading Fiction with Freud
  Discuss contemporary fiction with insight from professional psychoanalysts.
• Mystery Book Group
  Discuss classic and contemporary mysteries. Our theme for January through April 2012 is Religion Can Be Murder.
• Out of the Gutter: A Graphic Novel Discussion Group
  We will go beyond popular titles to explore independent and new releases.

Branch Book Groups

• Smithfield Critics
  Join the Smithfield Critics, our popular Downtown & Business book discussion group, on the third Wednesday of every month for cookies, coffee and lively discussion of interesting and diverse books that span multiple genres. You never know how smart you can become! Sign up for our newsletter.
• Squirrel Hill Adult Book Group
  The group reads primarily nonfiction (biographies, histories, witty commentaries) with a few fascinating novels and short story collections to round out the conversation each year. It generally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 1 PM.
