ANNUAL BOOK FUND APPEAL

November 15, 2008
Dear Friend:
Each year at this time, we write to friends in the community to share the success stories of the gem we share in the Sewickley Public Library and this year is no exception. Those successes can be demonstrated via an assortment of measures and here are just a few from the past year:
*   Over 23,962 people attended programs, workshops, meetings or seminars
*   Over 315,985 items were checked out
*   Over 96,307 computer log-in sessions
*   10,248 new books, DVDs, audio books and magazines were added to the collection
*   292,374 - the astounding number of people who walked through the Library doors in the past year
This year, the Friends of the Sewickley Public Library made donations allowing for significant enhancement of the library's collections. The Friends make annual contributions to the library's Summer reading Clubs and Battle of the Books competitions. The Friends also hosted a number of programs through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and another successful program to celebrate Women's History Month. We introduced a new, colorful 'I'm a Friend' library card along withe the handy key tag, both of which are available at the library for a $25 donation to the Friends. (It is a great gift for anyone, including children or grandchildren!)
One of the roles of the Friends of the Library is to foster the use of the Library. To accomplish this role, the Friends perform a variety of fund-raising activities including Used Book Sales, Savoring Sewickley and a yearly mailing. The funds earned or collected by the Friends enable the Library to purchase new books and the other materials that we enjoy on a daily basis.
Please help us invest in the ongoing growth of the Sewickley Public Library by sending a tax deductible check to the Friends of the Sewickley Public Library.
We truly appreciate your support!
