Building Your Nonprofit's Financial Health

In this precarious economic environment, nonprofits need more than ever to have a handle on their financial health. This session will outline the key financial tools every organization should have in its toolbox to understand financial position and be proactive in avoiding a crisis. Participants will:

• Learn about the core financial statements and how to troubleshoot financial issues
• Explore tools for better financial planning
• Discuss how to address financial concerns when they arise
• Review basic processes and procedures that can strengthen your financial health

The speaker is Kate Sphar, a Senior Consultant for ParenteBeard. Kate’s work focuses on helping organizations develop strong, sustainable business models. Her areas of expertise include business and strategic planning, organizational business modeling, mergers and collaborations, financial management and market research. Kate has designed and taught courses and workshops in social enterprise, business planning, financial management and nonprofit collaborations for numerous institutions in Pittsburgh and beyond. Kate was named one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2008 and is a graduate of the Leadership Development Initiative program at Leadership Pittsburgh. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and Treasurer of GTECH Strategies, Inc.

The cost to attend this program is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast. Registration is required by calling the Foundation Center at 412-622-6277.
