Bridgette Shade's manuscript Cactus People and Other Stories was a finalist for the 2012 Flannery O'Connor Prize. She received First Honorable Mention from the Dana Awards and has been featured on Prosody. Her work has appeared in Big Muddy, Clapboard House, Compass Rose, Caper Literary Journal, Voices from the Attic, and Dionne's Story. She teaches writing with an emphasis on social justice
