The Development Audit : Assessment for Fundraising Success

Wednesday, July 10, 2013
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

A Development Audit is most commonly conducted as part of the preparations for a capital campaign, but an audit can be an extremely useful tool for nonprofit organizations anytime they are considering new fundraising ventures – from implementing a planned giving program to restructuring the development office or seeking to increase Board participation and diversifying funding streams. Conducting an audit before instituting any new effort will ensure you proceed in the best way to achieve success in your organization.

In this informative session, Maureen Mahoney Hill, CFRE will review exactly what a development audit is and when and why it might be appropriate for your organization to undertake one. The class will also explore the secondary benefits of an audit for you, your staff and your Board, and features a detailed review of the key areas of your program that should be assessed in an audit and how.

Takeaways will include:
• An understanding of a development audit and when and how it can be helpful in improving your fundraising efforts.
• A review of the audit process.
• Identification of the key areas of our fundraising program and how they can be assessed through the audit process.
• The outcomes to expect from an audit for your organization.
