Pittsburgh Seed and Story Library
The Pittsburgh Seed and Story Library, a partnership between Chatham Food Studies graduate student Amanda West and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, aims to provide a public seed bank, gardening and seed saving classes, and a place to hear and share some of Pittsburgh's vibrant gardening history.
Seeds will be available at CLP-Lawrenceville (279 Fisk Street, 15201) and CLP-Main, First Floor (4400 Forbes Avenue, 15213) to "borrow" with the hope that library customers will grow one or more of the plants out to harvest the seeds and return them to the Library so others may benefit and the local seed supply can grow.
Donate seeds to the Pittsburgh Seed and Story Library
We welcome seed donations of :
- Heirloom, open pollinated or non-hybrid varieties
- Beans, tomatos and flowers
The Pittsburgh Seed and Story Library will be conducting interviews with community members throughout the month of April. The interviews will be available for public view near the Seed Library at CLP - Lawrenceville/ To tell your gardening story or volunteer to share your gardening expertise, contact Amanda West at email@example.com or call 757.635.6320.
