Allegheny Regional maintains an excellent selection of popular and classic fiction, mysteries, romances and large print books. In addition, we have a well-developed non-fiction collection, covering topics ranging from religion to history to do-it-yourself. We maintain separate consumer health, cookbook and biography sections, as well. Finally, we have popular and classic titles on DVD, video, book on cassette, book on CD and music CDs.

Teen Materials

For teenagers, Allegheny Regional has an excellent collection of fiction and non-fiction books that can be used for recreational reading, personal information and homework. Our graphic novel collection is quite popular.

Children's Materials

Allegheny Regional offers an extensive collection of materials for children and parents. Books can be found for every level of reading ability from toddler board books to picture books to first chapter readers to novels. We have special folk and fairy tale and nursery rhyme collections for children and a parent-teacher section for grown-ups. In addition, there are carfully selected videos, DVDs and music CDs for children. Teachers should be sure to check our our theme bag (http://www.carnegielibrary.org/kids/grownups/teacherlibrarians/themebags.html) collection.

Allegheny City/North Side Archive

Archive Materials Include:

City Directories for Allegheny City and Pittsburgh

Allegheny Regional retains an extensive collection of historic directories and telephone books for the Allegheny City/North Side/Greater Pittsburgh area. Directories Include:

Theme Bags for Teachers

Allegheny Regional offers theme bags to local teachers. Each bag contains a variety of books, activities, and other materials which may include flannel boards, reproducible patterns, fingerplays, craft ideas, or songs on a particular theme for children up through first grade.
