The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has a circulating collection of more than 60,000 slides covering many subject areas with emphasis on major paintings, sculpture and architecture. The collection also includes sets produced by major museums and those designed to accompany the Janson and Gardner history texts, as well as special sets on Pittsburgh architecture.
The collection is accessible via a card catalog in the Film and Audio Department. There are separate sections for slide sets and works by individual artists. Slide requests are processed Monday through Friday and can be ready for pick-up 24 hours after a request is submitted (excluding weekends). One may check out up to 250 slides.Please keep the following in mind when borrowing slides:
- Due to their fragile nature, slides can easily be damaged. Please do not return slides in bookdrops.
- Return slides to CLP Main (Oakland) only.
- Please keep slides in order within sets.
- There will be a $5.00 replacement fee for each damaged or missing slide.
