By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available from Port Authority of Allegheny County.

From Downtown:

  1. Catch an 81A (Oak Hill) or 81B (Lincoln) bus. It runs along Liberty Avenue and then Seventh Avenue so you can catch it at Liberty and Seventh and at Smithfield and Seventh.
  2. Leave the bus at the intersection of Centre Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street.

From Oakland:

  1. Board an 81B (Lincoln) bus on Centre Avenue at North Craig Street.
  2. Leave the bus at the intersection of Centre Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street.
  3. The Library is located on the corner.
OR
NOTE: This method requires a transfer in downtown Pittsburgh
  1. Board a 61A (East Pittsburgh-Wilkinsburg), 61B (Braddock-Swissvale), or 61C (McKeesport-Homestead) bus toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Forbes Avenue at South Dithridge Street. These buses go into Downtown on Forbes Avenue, turn on Stanwix Street, then Liberty Avenue and come out on Fifth Avenue.
    OR
    Board any bus going downtown on Fifth Avenue in Oakland.
  2. Get off the bus close to Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh.
  3. Catch an 81A (Oak Hill) or 81B (Lincoln) bus. These go into Downtown on Fifth Avenue and come out of Downtown on Liberty Avenue and Seventh Avenue. (See the route maps.)
  4. Leave the bus at the intersection of Centre Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street.

By Automobile

NOTE: Some parking available behind library and on street.

From Oakland:

  1. Drive north on South Bellefield Avenue to Centre Avenue and turn left onto Centre Avenue.
  2. Proceed on Centre Avenue to Kirkpatrick Street.
