Slide View
- See each slide individually
- Alter all parts of a slide
Outline View
- Only text areas of slides are viewable
- Slide preview in upper right corner
- Good for typing in text and ensuring uniformity in text
Slide Sorter View
- Inspect all slides in a presentation
- Good for changing slide order
- Cannot alter the slides themselves—double click to bring into Slide View
Notes Page View
- See one slide at a time with an area for notes
- Can enter notes the only the presenter can see
- Cannot alter the slides themselves
Slide Show
- Actual slide show
- Can see any transitions and effects that have been added
Moving between Slides in Slide View
There are three ways to move between slides
- Page Up and Page Down on the keyboard
- The double headed arrows at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar
- The scroll bar
Working With Text
In the Slide View or in the Outline View edit text by:
- Move the mouse over the area of text you wish to edit
- When the mouse pointer changes from an arrow to the “I” click once.
- Use backspace and delete to edit your text
Working With Images
To add an image
- Click Insert on the menu bar
- Click Picture
- Click Clipart
- Select an image
Sizing Images
- Move the mouse over one of the handles (the little white boxes that surround the borders of the slide)
- When the mouse pointer changes from the arrow to a little barbell left click and drag.
- When the picture is the appropriate size release the left mouse button.
Moving Images
- Move the mouse over an image. When the mouse pointer changes to a four sided arrow left click and hold down the button
- Move the mouse to appropriate area and release the left mouse button.
Working With Backgrounds
Selecting a color scheme
A color scheme determines the color of the background, the text, and the bullets and can be applied to a single slide or an entire presentation
- Click on Format in the menu bar
- Click on Slide Color Schemes
- Choose a style
- Click OK to return to the slide and apply the color scheme
Selecting a Background Color
Changes ONLY the background color and can be applied to a single slide or an entire presentation
- Click on Format in the menu bar
- Click on Background
- Choose a color
- Click OK to return to the slide and apply the color
Applying a design
PowerPoint supplies a number of prefabricated designs that can be used on a single slide or on an entire presentation
- Click on Format in the menu bar
- Click on Apply Design
- Choose a style
- Click OK to return to the slide and apply the design
Printing a Slide Show
- Click on File in the Menu bar
- Click on Print
- Under the Print What section select:
- Slides
- Handouts (2,3, or 6 slides per page)
- Notes Pages
- Outline View
NOTE: If the print icon for the shortcut bar is selected PowerPoint will print 1 slide per page.
