Directions to CLP-Sheraden

Sheraden Branch is approximately 3.3 miles west of Downtown Pittsburgh, across the Ohio River. The library is located on the block of Sherwood Avenue that is behind Langley High School.

By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available on the Port Authority of Allegheny County website. You can use their Trip Planner to find the next bus from your location to the library.

From Oakland to Downtown:

1. Board a 61A, 61B, 61C or 61D bus on Forbes Ave. at South Craig St.
2. Leave the bus on Fifth Ave. at Market St. in Downtown Pittsburgh (You will need a transfer.)

From Downtown to Sheraden:

1. Board a 26 Chartiers bus at Stanwix St. and Penn Ave. in Downtown Pittsburgh.
2. Leave the bus at the intersection of Chartiers Ave. and Citadel St. A church and a fire station are situated opposite each other at the intersection of Chartiers and Citadel.
3. Walk one block down Citadel St.
4. Turn right onto Sherwood Ave.
5. The library is located about one half block from Citadel on the left-hand side of Sherwood Ave.

Or:

1. Board a West Busway Bus (G1 or G2) at Sixth Avenue and Smithfield Street.
2. Leave the bus at Sheraden Station. Walk across the bridge to Sheraden
3. Continue to E.

By Automobile

From Oakland:

1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Fifth Avenue to Craft Avenue to the Parkway (376 W) entrance ramp, on the left.
2. Proceed on the Parkway East [I-376] to the Fort Pitt Bridge.
3. Get into the far right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge and take the ramp to West Carson Street.
4. Proceed down West Carson Street. Use the right hand lane and proceed to the bypass marked “McKees Rocks” at the West End Circle.
5. Turn left at the second traffic light at the Corliss Tunnel. There is a left hand turning lane at the intersection of West Carson Street and the Corliss Tunnel. Corliss Street becomes Chartiers Avenue.
6. Proceed on Corliss Street/Chartiers Avenue to the next intersection. Stay in right lane. There will be a traffic light. Go straight.
7. Proceed on Chartiers Avenue to the stop sign. Turn right and cross a short bridge.
8. Continue to E.

From the South:

1. Take Route 51 North. Follow it through the West End Bypass to the West End Circle.
2. Take the lane leading to West Carson Street and McKees Rocks (straight ahead).
3. Proceed down the ramp to West Carson Street.
4. Stay in the left lane of West Carson Street and turn left at the traffic light at the Corliss Tunnel.
5. Corliss Street becomes Chartiers Avenue.
6. Proceed on Corliss/Chartiers Avenue to the next intersection, staying in the right lane.
7. At the traffic light, go straight.
8. Proceed on Chartiers Avenue to the stop sign.
9. Turn right and cross a short bridge.
10. Continue to E.

From the North:

1. Cross the West End Bridge.
2. Turn right, and go down the ramp to West Carson Street.
3. Stay in the left lane of West Carson Street and turn left at the traffic light at the Corliss Tunnel.
4. Corliss Street becomes Chartiers Avenue.
5. Proceed on Corliss/Chartiers Avenue to the next intersection, staying in the right lane.
6. At the traffic light, go straight.
7. Proceed on Chartiers Avenue to the stop sign.
8. Turn right and cross a short bridge.
9. Continue to E.

From the West:

1. Take Route 60 (Steubenville Pike) toward Downtown Pittsburgh. Route 60 becomes Steuben Street.
2. Follow Steuben Street to the intersection of Steuben Street and Chartiers Avenue. It is a T intersection. There is a traffic light at the intersection. Turn left onto Chartiers Avenue.
3. Proceed up the hill on Chartiers Avenue to the intersection of Chartiers Ave. and Lorenz Ave. There will be a traffic light. Go straight.
4. Proceed downhill on Chartiers Avenue which follows an S curve. At the bottom of the hill, there is an intersection with a traffic light. Turn left.
5. After the left turn, the street is still Chartiers Avenue. Proceed on Chartiers Avenue to the stop sign. Turn right, and cross a short bridge.
6. Continue to E.

E. at the end of the bridge:

1. At the end of the bridge, turn right and make an immediate left up Sheraden Boulevard, which is between Langley High School on the left and a supermarket on the right. Use caution since this can be a busy intersection.
2. At the top of Sheraden Boulevard, turn left onto Sherwood Ave. Use caution even though the other drivers have stop signs.
3. Proceed down Sherwood Ave. and pass Holy Innocents Parish, a large gray stone church on the right. The library is on the right-hand side, two and one half blocks from the turn.
