Stem Cell Research

"Decades of scientific research show the potential benefits of embryonic stem (ES) cell research. ES cells--which are derived from early-stage human embryos--may have the ability to generate many types of replacement cells and tissues to help treat diseases which are the result of cell or tissue malfunction."

--Lawrence S.B. Goldstein; professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute
