The Art ~ Mind ~ Spirit Connection

"Self-discovery", "self-awareness", "self-actualization", "enlightenment", "centering" -- these are terms describing some artists' experiences when they work. Inner peace and fulfillment are sometimes the fruits of, and sometimes the requirement for, practicing an art. Some would say that a certain amount of inner stillness is needed before one can begin. This list identifies some books which offer insights into the creative process of spiritual awareness, self-discovery and centering through drawing and painting. It is not concerned with the techniques of rendering. Some of the books may merely be the author's musings about this very personal and intimate aspect of the creation of art. (There is no specific area in the library for these kinds of books because the catalogers at the Library of Congress have not yet assigned a classification devoted to this.)
