Founded in June 2001 as the Western Pennsylvania Field Institute, Venture Outdoors is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting outdoor recreation and Western Pennsylvania as a great place to live, work and play outdoors. They are a central clearinghouse for outdoor recreational activities.

Gopaoutdoors.com is a collaborative effort of four destination marketing organizations and Cabela's to promote the great Pennsylvania outdoors in the Hershey-Harrisburg region, Lehigh Valley, Reading & Berks County area, and Schuylkill County area. Cabela's has a huge store in Hamburg Pennsylvania. (They also have one near Pittsburgh in Wheeling, West Virginia.)
