Authors Readers Theatre

Authors Readers Theatre is a traveling troupe of award-winning authors who perform scenes from their own and each others books at events across the country.  We invite you to come and share the experience!

All middle and high school students in Allegheny County may attend this program for free. Teachers, principals, librarians or other educators contact 412-578-2599 or teens@carnegielibrary.org to register a group to attend.  At this time, participants are limited to 50 students/school.

Avi

Avi has written more than 60 books for young people, including the Newbery Medal Winner Crispin: the Cross of Lead and Newbery Honor Books The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and Nothing But the Truth.

Walter Dean Myers

Walter Dean Myers was the first winner of the Michael L. Printz Award, and has won numerous other awards.  Many of his books, including his most recent novel Street Love, explore the lives of young African Americans in Harlem.

Pam Muñoz Ryan

Pam Muñoz Ryan's books, including Becoming Naomi Leon and Esperanza Rising, have won many awards including the Pura Belpre Award, given to authors whose books reflect the Latino cultural experience. Her stories are shaped by her own diverse cultural background.

Sarah Weeks

Sarah Weeks has written many books for younger children, and has recently begun writing books for teens.  Her first young adult novel, So B. It, was chosen as an ALA Best Book for Young Adults in 2005. Jumping the Scratch, her second book for teens, was released in 2006.
